Uzbek skins and footwear seek partners in Europe

Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear, along with astrakhan, wool, and leather, are looking for partners and clients in the markets of Southern Europe. This was reported by the specialists of ACIR Southern Europe who met at the XIV Edition of the Leather and Footwear Industry Fair, UZCHARM EXPO – SHOESSTAR – EURASIA, held in the Uzbek capital from April 5 to 7.

Together with the specialists from the ACIR project office in Tashkent, various Spanish companies in the footwear and leather sector were represented in the thematic sessions of the event and in the B2B negotiations that took place.

More than 2000 national companies, as well as around 200 foreign companies from more than 50 countries around the world, participated in this 14th International Fair. According to estimates, more than 5,000 products were exhibited to the nearly 10,000 visitors who attended the event.

In the thematic sessions, where ACIR Southern Europe shared its experience in carrying out export projects between Southern Europe and Central Asia, the International Fur Federation (IFF), the Confederation of National Associations of Leather and Clothing Designers of the European Community (Cotance), the Council of Leather and Footwear Exporters of South Africa (SAFLEC), national associations and councils of foreign countries producing leather, footwear, and leather products, guests of honor of the exhibition, also participated.

Leather and footwear business in Central Asia.

The main theme of ACIR’s exhibition in the thematic sessions has been the business opportunities that the European market represents for Central Asian companies. Special emphasis has been placed on the possibilities that these markets offer for raw materials and derivative products. In addition, the offers in technologies, professional training, and technological exchange between companies offered by Spanish and Italian partners have been presented.

During the B2B and B2G meetings, ACIR specialists were able to present the needs and proposals of their European partners. The proposals for machinery to optimize manufacturing processes and technologies that allow standardization of processes have been of interest.

In the coming days, ACIR Project Office specialists in Tashkent will continue negotiations in order to reach commercial agreements that allow for a greater Uzbek presence in the markets of Southern Europe.
