Presentation of the SENIOR urban-architectural project to Valencian authorities

Eduard Gulián, president of ACIR Southern Europe, has led a productive meeting with executives from the Valencia City Council and the Comutitat Valenciana. The meeting addressed key issues such as twinning between cities, the exchange of experiences in tourism, and, primarily, the cultural-urban SENIOR project.

Gulián took the opportunity to review the main activities that ACIR Southern Europe has carried out for the benefit of Samarkand. Since 2023, this region has been at the center of numerous initiatives in collaboration with organizations such as the Valencia Chamber of Commerce and other private companies interested in internationalization towards Central Asia.

SENIOR Project: Innovation and Positive Reaction from Valencian Authorities

The SENIOR project was one of the highlights of the meeting. This pioneering initiative by ACIR Southern Europe brings together several companies from Southern Europe and Central Asia around a cultural-urban project that highlights the cultural and tourist values of the old route of the first Spanish ambassador in the kingdom of Amir Timur: Ruy González de Clavijo.

The Valencian authorities showed a high degree of receptivity and optimism towards the activities presented by Gulián. They expressed their interest in exploring actions that would allow the relationship between Samarkand and Valencia to be strengthened, especially through trade, investment and tourism.

Twinning Potential between Samarkand and Valencia

The possibility of twinning between Samarkand and Valencia presents an excellent opportunity to boost investments and foreign trade. This twinning would not only facilitate cultural exchange, but it would also create a bridge of economic cooperation beneficial to both cities. Key sectors such as tourism, manufacturing, technology, agriculture, and education could experience a significant boost thanks to this twinning.

During 2023, several delegations from Uzbekistan and Spain visited the respective cities to learn about the potential of each of them, guided by the experts from the Project Office in those countries. In meetings with authorities, the benefits of cooperation in the various sectors of the countries’ economies were highlighted, as well as the tourist and cultural component of the initiatives implemented by ACIR Southern Europe.
