ACIR Southern Europe meets with the Ambassador of Spain in Uzbekistan

The working meeting between ACIR Southern Europe and the Ambassador of Spain in Uzbekistan, Marcos Gómez Martínez, was an important encounter to present the initiatives that ACIR will implement in Uzbekistan with Spanish companies as a continuation of the actions carried out in the country, as well as other projects to attract Uzbek investments to Spain.

The delegation from ACIR Southern Europe was composed of CEO, Eduard Gulian, and Regional Director for Central Asia, Miguel de la Cruz Salcedo.

Projects in active implementation phase in Central Asia

During the meeting, an overview was given of the activities carried out by ACIR in promoting business opportunities in Spain, among which the practical workshops organized in Tashkent and Bukhara with Spanish representatives of ICEX in Uzbekistan were highlighted. Progress was also presented on the strategic projects that ACIR has been developing in the water treatment, textiles, food and beverage, product certification for export, and information technology sectors.

An important aspect of the services that ACIR provides in Central Asia is institutional and commercial representation. In this case, the activities carried out with the Samarkand governorate were presented, with the aim of opening a Commerce House of the region in Spain in the coming days, as well as the signing of a memorandum to start work on the SENIOR project promoted by ACIR with the participation of Spanish companies.

Another important issue discussed was the support provided to Spanish companies to participate in sectoral events at the most important fairs in Central Asia.

For his part, Ambassador Marcos Gómez thanked the visit and highlighted the work that ACIR carries out for the positioning of Spanish projects and companies in Uzbekistan. He indicated that working with Uzbekistan is important for Spain and the consolidation and expansion of areas of work in that nation.

He assured the support and backing of both the Spanish delegation present in Uzbekistan and the officials of ICEX in Tashkent.

Plans until the end of the year

Among the initiatives that will be implemented until the end of the year are the opening of the Commerce House of the Samarkand region in Spain, the organization of the presentation in Spain of one of the most important Uzbek technology parks in the country, and the implementation of an Uzbek neighborhood in Madrid.

All these initiatives have the support of some institutional and governmental organizations in Uzbekistan as well as entrepreneurs and investors. For this reason, on September 7, ACIR Southern Europe and the Community of Madrid (Invest in Madrid) will organize an event to present investment opportunities in the Madrid community, which will bring together companies and investors from Central Asia interested in Spain. The event will showcase the facilities offered by the region, as well as the success stories of companies from these countries implemented in Madrid.
