This meeting marks an important milestone in economic cooperation between Spain and Uzbekistan, focusing on the financing of strategic projects in Central Asia.

During the meeting, five key areas of work were identified to achieve funding and development of projects with Spanish participation in Uzbekistan:

Infrastructure Development: Promoting the construction and modernization of key infrastructure in Uzbekistan, such as roads, bridges, airports, and rail networks. These projects will not only improve internal connectivity within the country but also facilitate regional trade and economic integration.

Energy and Renewable Resources: Encouraging investments in renewable energy projects, such as solar and wind, to diversify Uzbekistan’s energy matrix and promote environmental sustainability. Additionally, opportunities in the hydrocarbon sector will be explored to optimize the extraction and use of energy resources.

Agriculture and Agricultural Technology: Promoting the modernization of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector through the introduction of advanced technologies and sustainable practices. This includes improving irrigation systems, using eco-friendly fertilizers, and adopting the latest agricultural machinery.

Technology and Telecommunications: Developing telecommunications infrastructure and fostering technological innovation in Uzbekistan. This encompasses the expansion of telecommunications networks, the promotion of digitalization, and the support of technological entrepreneurship.

Tourism and Culture: Supporting projects that strengthen Uzbekistan’s tourism sector by highlighting its rich cultural heritage and natural attractions. This includes the restoration of historical sites, the development of tourism infrastructure, and the promotion of Uzbekistan as a global tourist destination.

Central Asia: Strategic Market

Eduard Gulián emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting that “the synergy between Spanish companies and Uzbek authorities will open new opportunities for both countries, fostering economic growth and sustainable development in the region.”

Economic Counselor Zafar Amonov expressed enthusiasm for this initiative, stating that “the active participation of ACIR Southern Europe and Spanish companies is crucial for achieving our strategic objectives and strengthening our bilateral relations.”
