ACIR Southern Europe promotes new business opportunities between Spain and Kazakhstan

As part of the Spain Days in Kazakhstan, which began on October 9 with a Spanish music concert by violinist Erzhan Kulibaev, the practical seminar “Business and Investment Opportunities between Spain and Kazakhstan” was held on October 11. The event was organized by ACIR Southern Europe in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Kazakhstan and key business organizations in the country, such as Kazakh Invest, the International Chamber of Commerce, and Qaz Trade. The seminar marked a crucial step in strengthening trade ties between the two countries.

The seminar was opened by H.E. Luis Martínez Montes, Ambassador of Spain to Kazakhstan, who emphasized the importance of these meetings to boost bilateral relations. Mr. Eduard Gulián, President of ACIR Southern Europe, highlighted ACIR’s key role in facilitating trade and investment projects between Europe and Central Asia, especially in strategic sectors such as water treatment, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

Net-Pharma and opportunities in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries

The event also featured a presentation by Net-Pharma, Spain’s leading pharmaceutical technology hub, headed by Mr. Cristobal Molleja. This hub unites nearly 100 companies in the health sector. Molleja’s presentation focused on opportunities for joint ventures, technology exchange, and the delivery of innovative products in Central Asia, with special attention to the pharmaceutical sector.

In the cosmetics segment, Miguel de la Cruz, ACIR Southern Europe’s Regional Director for Central Asia, introduced the solutions and cosmetic products offered by Southern Europe. He highlighted the opportunities for Central Asian countries to access high-quality, innovative products from this sector.

Water treatment: Spanish innovations for Kazakhstan

Water treatment was another key topic discussed at the seminar. Egor Zhunyaev, Director of ACIR Southern Europe’s Project Office, provided detailed information about ongoing projects involving Spanish companies. Zhunyaev highlighted the technological innovations being implemented by Spanish firms in Kazakhstan, offering effective solutions to address the country’s water management challenges.

New projects were also presented, where Spanish companies could get involved. These projects emphasized the advantages of collaborating with local organizations to improve water resource management in the region.

Individual consultations and upcoming agreements

The seminar concluded with individual consultations between participating companies and ACIR Southern Europe, where collaboration opportunities were discussed in greater detail. As a result of these meetings, a cooperation agreement with a major cosmetics distribution chain in Kazakhstan is expected to be signed in the coming days. Negotiations are also ongoing for the establishment of a pharmaceutical production plant in Almaty, a project that could significantly impact the local economy and bilateral trade relations.
