Samarkand, a region rich in heritage and potential, has sent a delegation to Valencia in a strategic visit to explore and disseminate its tourist and investment opportunities. ACIR Southern Europe, the official link of Samarkand in Southern European countries, has played a crucial role in organizing meaningful encounters with various Valencian institutions, strengthening relations and fostering investment opportunities.
Samarkand – Valencia Forum: An Important Dialogue
A high-ranking delegation from Samarkand, including notable figures such as the director of the Samarkand State Museum and the head of the region’s tourism department, has made a strategic visit to Valencia, Spain, with the aim of improving bilateral relations. ACIR Southern Europe, in collaboration with the Uzbekistan embassy in Spain and the Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Valencia, has organized a series of valuable encounters between the Samarkand delegation and various authorities and local businesses in Valencia. These encounters have served as a platform for the exchange of ideas and opportunities, and have made clear the mutual commitment to strengthening relations.
In the session promoting tourism in Samarkand, various key topics were addressed to foster cooperation between Valencia and Samarkand. Among the points discussed, twinning of cities was raised as an effective strategy to strengthen relations between these two cities, both with a rich history and culture.
Historical-cultural tourism was another central point of the dialogue. Both parties agreed on the importance of promoting this type of tourism that attracts travelers interested in local history and culture. In this regard, the relevance of the Velonotte project, which seeks to present Samarkand in a historical and cultural context through a series of night events, was highlighted.
Conceptual tourism is another topic that generated great enthusiasm. The SENIOR project is an initiative that seeks to transform the tourist experience, offering visitors a unique and conceptual view of the city.
The issue of accessible environments was also discussed. Both parties recognized the importance of ensuring that tourist attractions and services are accessible to all, regardless of their physical abilities or special needs.
And finally, the topic of artisan clusters was addressed. Recognizing Samarkand’s rich artisan tradition, the possibility of developing artisan clusters to promote and preserve this unique aspect of Samarkand’s culture was explored.
SENIOR Project: Revitalizing the City of Samarkand
ACIR Southern Europe presented the SENIOR Project, an ambitious initiative that seeks to revitalize the historic city of Samarkand. The president of ACIR, Eduard Gulián, underscored the importance of this project, which involves renowned specialists and companies in the fields of architecture, tourism, and business.
The SENIOR Project aims not only to increase the value of Samarkand’s spaces but also to highlight the rich history of relations between Samarkand, Europe, and the Middle East. Using principles of Architectural Acupuncture, the initiative aims to transform the city and foster spaces that promote tourism, culture, and business.
This effort to revitalize Samarkand demonstrates the strategic vision of ACIR Southern Europe and its partners, who aim to make Samarkand an important reference for tourism and business in the region.
This initiative, the result of a joint effort with Samarkand, has already made numerous presentations to business leaders, government institutions, financial entities, and official representatives of various countries. In the coming months, planning work in the city will begin, along with documentation and structuring of financing means.
