Spain Day celebrated for the first time in Uzbekistan thanks to ACIR Southern Europe

As part of Spain’s National Day and Spain’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, ACIR Southern Europe, in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan and the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, organized a concert on October 30th at the Palace of Arts of Turkistan.

This event featured the participation of the outstanding Spanish guitarist Daniel Casares and the young Spanish violinist Inés Maro Burgos Babakhanyan.

Jewels of music performed by Spaniards

The concert program included the legendary Concierto de Aranjuez by the Spanish guitar genius, Joaquin Rodrigo, the first concert in the history of music for guitar and symphony orchestra. In addition, for the first time in Uzbekistan, the authored work of Daniel Casares, “Capote de Seda” (“Silk Bullfighter’s Cape”) was presented.

The young violinist Inés Maro Burgos Babakhanyan, 14, dazzled the audience with her performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s violin concerto in E minor (Op. 64), accompanied by the orchestra. Inés was born in Madrid in 2009 and from an early age showed exceptional talent for music. At the age of four, she began to learn to play the violin and at five she became the youngest member of the choir of the Teatro Real in Madrid. At the age of ten, she was admitted to the Yehudi Menuhin school in London and soon after made her debut at the National Auditorium of Spain under the direction of Pascual Osa. Inés has won awards at the Ilona Fehér International Competition in Budapest and the Grumiaux Competition in Brussels.
